Choosing between ASIC and GPU paths at home scale

Forum debates rarely mention your particular fence line. This comparison follows the structure used in Appgroveway’s Mining Fundamentals afternoon session.

Noise and placement

Many ASICs run louder than a GPU frame of similar wattage. If the only available space shares a wall with living quarters, the quieter path may win even when raw efficiency looks weaker on paper.

Maintenance hours

GPU frames ask for more cable management and occasional reseating. ASICs simplify the board count but leave less room to reuse parts if you later leave mining. Count the hours you can honestly spare each month.

Resale and flexibility

GPUs retain non-mining uses for some households. ASICs are specialised. Neither fact guarantees value; both should appear on your decision sheet beside electricity cost.

Practice the comparison in class

Upcoming dates are listed on the workshop calendar. Bring measurements of your intended room so the comparison stays tied to your space.
